Video of Hilary Beckles comparing Chris Gayle to drug criminal

We have acquired video footage of Sir Hilary Beckles’ disgusting comments regarding Chris Gayle. After the audio was released, Beckles said: “The presentation was edited, I believe it was misrepresented, statements were strung together to create what for WIPA was an unfortunate unpleasant and unsavoury image.”

See for yourself, especially where he laughs disdainfully as he compares Gayle to a drug ‘Don’.

WICB hypocrisy: Hilaire letter to Chanderpaul

WICB director Hilary Beckles compares Chris Gayle to a criminal and gets away with it. Shivnarine Chanderpaul speaks his mind and the WICB is setting the stage for disciplinary proceedings. Hypocrisy 101.

Dear Shivnarine,

Re: Interview on Line & Length Network

I refer to an interview you participated in on May 5 2011 on the Line & Length Network in which you spoke of matters relating to West Indies cricket.

As a centrally contracted player, we are in the first instance concerned with your participation in such an interview of which we had no prior knowledge and for which the WICB granted no approval. Further, even had you independently decided to engage in such an interview, we must remind you of the duty enshrined in your retainer contract – to ensure that you do not do anything that, in the WICB’s reasonable opinion, is likely to denigrate the WICB, a WICB Team, another Player or any WICB Sponsor or which reveals any information that, in the WICB’s reasonable opinion, is confidential to the WICB.

We also refer you to Rules 6 and 9 of the WICB Code of Conduct, which respectively prohibit unbecoming behaviour that could bring the game of cricket into disrepute or be harmful to the interests of cricket, and players and team officials from making public or media comment which is detrimental to the interests of the game.

It is our opinion that several of the comments made by you in the course of the abovementioned interview have the effect of denigrating the WICB and in particular the Head Coach, the Selectors, the CEO and the Executive Members of the Board. We further consider that your comments were ill-advised and detrimental to the interests of the game.

While we consider it unfortunate that you choose to make public comments on issues about which you may feel dissatisfied, rather than seeking to have discussions with me, any member of Team Management or any other WICB official; we would like to give you the opportunity to explain your comments and the reasons for same.

We would appreciate a response from you within 10 days of receipt of this letter.

Sincerely,

Ernest Hilaire
Chief Executive Officer
West Indies Cricket Board Inc.

Tell Hilary Beckles how you feel

WICB director and UWI professor has compared Chris Gayle to a drug don.  If this offends you as much as it offends us, you should let him know:

Kicks left right and centre

Ladies and gentlemen, this is a WICB director:

“The kicks were coming left right and centre and I was blocking them. Several kicks were raining in my direction and at the same time he had a Guiness bottle in his hand and I have to watching the bottle and a watch the kick at the same time and he was threatening me how long he want to kill me.”

WICB director involved in ugly fist-fight

WICB director Paul Campbell (the same man who used the JCA credit card for personal expenses) was involved in an ugly fist-fight last night where he is accused of punching and kicking Jamaica cricket association secretary Ian Browne over a voter list disagreement.   Browne reported the matter to Jamaica police and is now at the University hospital for x-rays to an injured arm.   During the melee, Campbell allegedly said he was going to kill Browne.  The incident happened at Sabina Park last night.

Another day in West Indies cricket.

WICB director compares Gayle to Jamaican drug don

From dirty tricks to downright slander, the classless and hypocritical WICB continues to malign its own cricketers.  Now we have WICB director and UWI professor Hilary Beckles comparing Chris Gayle to a Jamaican drug don (Listen for yourself).  This is what West Indies cricket has come to.  Hilary should be ashamed of himself.

At least they are finally providing the true reason Chris Gayle was dropped from the team.  If I’m Marlon Samuels…

Chanderpaul says he was mistreated by WICB, Gibson

Shivnarine Chanderpaul is just the latest in a long line of great West Indies cricketers to be mistreated by the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB).  Listen to this Line and Length interview as Chanderpaul expresses his anger and frustration.

“Leaks from the WICB are a fact of life”

Over the last month, WICB President Hon. Dr. Julian R. Hunte OBE has been contacting directors and staff and warning them against leaking information to WICB Exposé. Understandable, right?    We found this amusing little doozy with the Honourable Doctor calling leaks from the WICB “a fact of life” when he and his henchmen were busy leaking information to discredit Bruce Aanensen.  What goes around, comes around.

Dear Bruce

I received your email today on the story on the “caribbeancricket.com” website. I am as distressed as you are both about the appearance of the story and its editorial slant.

I have been at pains to keep our communication on the matter to a minimum. Our official position has been that we have received your resignation and the Board will consider it. We had hoped to do so at a meeting tomorrow but with the disruption in flight schedules, we are now planning to have the meeting on Saturday, August 25th, 2007 in St. Lucia.

I understand your concern but, as you know, attempts to keep sensitive WICB information from the media have never succeeded. Leaks from the WICB were a fact of life in my days on the Board and continue today. I know that you tried to pinpoint the source of the leaks but without success. I will continue to try.

The one thing I can assure you is that as President of the WICB, I am not and will not be a party to the public disclosure of confidential matters and will not support such behaviour by the Board or Management of the organization. We have a Code of Ethics in place and I am committed to ensuring that all WICB staff and Directors adhere to it.

Sincerely,

(not signed when sent electronically)

Hon. Dr. Julian R. Hunte
President

Trouble in the captaincy camp

We have seen official WICB documentation showing that the West Indies selectors want to nicely ask Darren Sammy to step aside for the upcoming series against India. Clyde Butts and Robert Haynes told the CEO to approach the board of directors and discuss a new captain but, strangely, that information has not been passed to the WICB directors. Joel Garner for one has not heard about this. Is Dr Hilaire trying to avoid the inevitable? Watch this space 😉

By the way, congratulations to Shiv Chanderpaul for his recall to the Test team to face Pakistan.
